Leading Brewing Experts Announced to Speak at Beer Matters 2019

One of Europe’s most admired and successful family brewing businesses will headline the line-up of speakers at Scotland’s national brewing conference and trade show in September.

Managing Director of Manufacturing and Environment at Bitburger Braugruppe, Jan Niewodniczanski, will be the keynote speaker at the 3rd annual Beer Matters which takes place at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Thursday 19th September 2019.

Hosted by Jaega Wise, the BBC Presenter and Head Brewer of London’s Wild Card Brewery, Beer Matters is expected to be larger this year with a new format which includes both technical and business sessions.  200 delegates from across the Scottish brewing sector attended the event last year.

The technical sessions will be presented by Dr Tom Shellhammer, from Oregon State University, Professor Sir Geoff Palmer OBE and Robert Percival from Lallemand.  They will present three sessions on the subjects of hops, cereals and yeast, sharing current knowledge, practices and challenges as well as research and development from across the world in each of their fields of expertise.

They will be joined by Shane McCarthy from Ireland Craft Beers who will share his experiences as the founder of the world’s first Blockchain beer.  He will be joined in delivering one of the two business focussed sessions, by David Elliott of Kantar’s Worldpanel who will present the latest trends and research into the changes demands of consumers in the beer market worldwide.

The conference is staged alongside a busy trade show featuring over 50 brewing related businesses. Exhibitors include Brewers Select, Close Brothers Brewery Rentals, Crisp Malting Group, Kegstar, Lallemand, Muntons and Rankin Brothers and Sons.

Beer Matters takes place on Thursday, 19 September 2019 at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, New Market Road, Edinburgh.  The event takes place on the same day as the 4th annual Scottish Beer Awards, sponsored by ALDI.  Delegates wishing to book tickets to attend the conference and awards dinner can book online here.
